Your First Task with a Coding Agent

Your First Task with a Coding Agent

There is a metric for how long a task an agent solves with a 50% chance of success. For the best model that is roughly **five hours of human work**. Fifty percent means it gets every second one wrong. Do not put your first task there — and give it something it can run itself.

Autocomplete, Chat, Agent: Three Modes of AI Coding

The difference between the three modes is not the model — the same model runs in all three. The difference is **whose hands the filesystem is in**. In the first it is yours, in the second it is on the clipboard, in the third it is the tool's — and from there the only question is when it asks.

No-Code Automation with AI: Which Platform?

No-Code Automation with AI: Which Platform?

Price is not what decides, **the billing unit is**. Five large platforms, five different units — and the same daily automation with twenty steps consumes **900** units on one and **18,000** on another. That is a twentyfold difference for exactly the same work. Plus one correction that many comparisons get wrong: **n8n is not open source.**

Your First Automation That Is Actually Useful

Your First Automation That Is Actually Useful

Most companies start where the return is worst. According to a report covering 52 organisations and 153 executives, roughly **70% of the AI budget goes to sales and marketing**, while **back-office processes** delivered faster payback and cleaner cost reduction. And there is one number that rearranges everything: for an automation running once a day, **the platform fee is typically more than a hundred times the model cost.**

What an Agent Actually Does, Step by Step

What an Agent Actually Does, Step by Step

An agent is not magic, it is **a loop**: it asks the model, performs an operation, reads the result back, and starts over. The complete control logic of a production agent that scores above 74% on a benchmark is **roughly a hundred lines of code**. This post walks through one real run — and shows where it breaks.

Inbox Triage with AI

Inbox Triage with AI

The inbox is the place where AI measurably helps — but not the way you expect. In a randomised 6,000-person experiment, the people who actually used it spent **18% less time** reading email, while the number of conversations **did not change**. And there is one risk that barely gets discussed: an incoming message is not only data to the machine, it **can also be an instruction**.

From Outline to Deck: Slides with AI

The expectation is that the structure is your job and the machine takes care of the design. The only independent measurement says **it works the other way round**: on the logical build of a deck the best system scores 81 points, but **on visual layout even the best manages only 62.8**, with most of the field under 50. And source fidelity is worse still.

Reading and Researching Faster Without Losing Accuracy

Reading and Researching Faster Without Losing Accuracy

Two large experiments gave opposite answers to the same question. A series with 10,462 participants found that an AI summary leaves **shallower knowledge** behind — even when it contains exactly the same information. In another experiment it **improved** comprehension, and did so even on questions the summary never touched. The difference comes down to one thing: **does it replace the reading, or lead into it.**

Note-Taking That Feeds Your AI

Note-Taking That Feeds Your AI

The usual advice is to tag your notes. The most thorough measurement says **most enrichment makes things worse**: a reliability score, a contradiction flag and a provenance chain **lowered accuracy on every task tested**. One single piece of metadata helped meaningfully — **the date**. This article is about what is actually worth writing down.

CVs, Applications and Interviews with AI, Done Honestly

CVs, Applications and Interviews with AI, Done Honestly

The line is not where most people look for it. AI detectors run at an accuracy of **33% to 81%**, and on **machine-translated human text** their false accusations average 11.1%, while on plain human text seven of them never accused anyone at all — and that is exactly what an applicant who drafts in their own language and then translates into English produces. Meanwhile 13 experiments with more than five thousand participants have shown that owning up to it **cuts trust by 16–20%** — and being found out cuts it further.

Your Weekly AI Routine

Your Weekly AI Routine

In May 2026, **52%** of the employees surveyed had already used AI for work — **but only 15% daily.** Two thirds of executives call themselves regular users, and in practice that comes to **an hour and a half a week**. This article is about how that hour and a half turns into a weekly routine — and why it is not your own feeling that decides whether it worked.

How AI Changed Programming

How AI Changed Programming

One of the most quoted measurements says you got 55.8% faster. Another says 19% slower. Neither is lying — they measured different jobs. And between the two sits the number that matters most: developers were **39 percentage points** wrong about their own speed.
